In-depth (Phase 2) reviews — all matters, regime to date

8 referred · 1 cleared with conditions · 1 blocked · 4 under review · 2 withdrawn.

Shown regardless of the period selected above. Landmark matters (the first conditional clearance and the first prohibition) were notified during the 2025 transitional period and concluded in 2026, so a filing-date view would omit them. A referral appears here once the ACCC updates the matter’s stage on the register, which can lag the media announcement by a few days.

“Cleared with conditions” reflects a determination approved subject to court-enforceable undertakings (e.g. divestitures). “Blocked” reflects a determination that the acquisition must not be put into effect. Register-derived; not a substitute for the ACCC’s formal determination and reasons.

About these figures

  • Derived from the live ACCC Acquisitions Register, not from formal ACCC statistical releases. Figures update as entries are added and determinations are published, so counts shift over time.
  • Period filters (quarters, half-years, years) are based on the notification / filing date — they show what was notified in a window. Matters concluded in a window but notified earlier appear under their filing period, not the period they concluded. Outcome-based questions (Phase 2 results, prohibitions) are captured separately in the Phase 2 section, which is not filing-date-windowed.
  • The register lists notification waivers only once determined, so pending waiver applications are not shown and waiver counts here are of determined applications. The ACCC’s own quarterly releases report waiver applications received, which is a larger figure.
  • ANZSIC industry codes are recorded per party, so a deal spanning multiple divisions is counted once in each — sector totals therefore exceed the number of filings.
  • The ACCC’s statutory period to determine a waiver is 25 business days; the 20-business-day marker on the waiver chart is the ACCC’s indicative service target (around 80% of acquisitions within 20 business days), not the statutory limit.
